Personal Branding on Social Media

If your goal is to become a thought leader in your industry, you need to craft a personal brand on social media. Your personal brand is what allows you to be remembered and stick out in a crowd of your peers.

Below are steps to take to nourish your personal brand:

1. Content, Content, Content

You need to create content if you want to be seen as an expert. Original work will help you achieve thought leader status. Original content takes some work, but the rewards will follow. You want others to learn from you.

2. Get your Message Out There Consistently

In order to develop a following, you should message often, predictably and on target. Determine your target audience and choose the social media sites they frequent. Don’t go overboard: your buyer personas don’t use 7 different social media sites and neither should you. Choose no more than 4 different channels and focus your efforts there.

3. Find your hidden talents and shine!

We each are better at some tasks than others. The tasks we do the best are the tasks that come the easiest to us. The same is true for writing content. Find your hidden creative talents and apply yourself to those topics you love (or at least like). Writing should be fun and it will get easier, especially if you can write without distraction.
